Running on 17th, 24th September and 1st and 9th October, this course provides intensive, interactive facilitator training, focused on building an understanding of restorative values and the practice of effective facilitation skills. The aim of the training is to create effective restorative facilitators who contribute to the creation of a mutually respectful, safe and inclusive community setting. Royal Borough of Greenwich is a registered training provider with the RJC

Training will include:

  • Theory - supporting participants to develop a theoretical understanding of restorative processes and gain knowledge of the ethos, background and relevance of a Restorative Approach across several settings.
  • Practice - practical skill development to enable participants to deal with conflict and harm in their work settings in a restorative way. This includes skills practice and role play using the key restorative questions to develop facilitator skills across the continuum of restorative processes from informal to formal. On the course, all participants will be given an opportunity to practice using RA facilitator skills and gain feedback.
  • Sustainability - a consideration of how to implement restorative approaches in a specific work context, including practical resources for embedding a high quality restorative service.

Students who wish to pursue Level 5 accreditation will then undertake independent research, work-based activities and network meetings over a 12 month period. Through these activities, participants build a portfolio, which demonstrates their knowledge and evidences how they meet the learning requirements – the portfolio is submitted at the end of the course. On completion of the accreditation programme, students will achieve 60 credits at Level 5 - credit rated by the University of Greenwich.
