Job opportunity: restorative justice officer at Norfolk Youth Offending Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen as a restorative justice officer within the Norfolk Youth Offending Team (YOT).
YOT is a multi-agency service whose purpose is to reduce offending by young people and to work with victims of their crimes within restorative justice principles. We are seeking a practitioner with a restorative justice approach to; promote the active involvement of victims in the youth justice process, complete victim conferences and support report writers with the restorative justice element of assessments with young people. The post holder may also be required to provide restorative justice input to training for volunteers and other staff.
You will have a qualification and/or significant experience in either a criminal justice, social care or victim/restorative justice arena. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the principles of restorative justice and a proven ability to work independently whilst also being able to work supportively within a team environment. You will have responsibility of managing a caseload efficiently within time constraints, have a flair for creative working to help restore harm across victims, young people and the wider community. Excellent communication, knowledge of the victim code, sensitivity of how crime can impact on victims and the wider community are important qualities for this position.
This post is a full-time position, but consideration may be given to applicants on a job share basis to make a full-time post. The post will be based at Carrow House in Norwich but will require travel across Norwich, Great Yarmouth and on occasions Kings Lynn areas. There may also be a requirement for some evening and weekend working.
