Restorative Practitioner Hate Crime - Cheshire x 2

The role a Hate Crime Practitioner for the new Hate Crime Service in Cheshire, involves a significant amount of contact with people affected by Hate Crime across all the 5 strands, as well as those committing such offences. You will be required to make initial contact with victims and offenders over the telephone, however there is the expectation that this work will be carried out face to face where suitable, following Remedi’s robust Covid-19 risk assessment, you will also be required to provide online support when preferred by victims. 

Working with Victims: Your role will be to provide victims of Hate Crime with long-term emotional, practical and personal support by creating an individualized support plan with them, which is bespoke to their individual needs within a few days after the Hate Crime has taken place. The aim of your role will be to support the service user with any needs they have since the incident/offence, support them through the CJS process, provide them relevant information about the CJS, signpost and refer them onto suitable bespoke support agencies, provide emotional, practical and personal support on a regular basis, and help the victims feel able to cope and be more confident to report any further incidents or offences of Hate Crime.

Working with the offenders: You will be required to deliver a 2 session Hate Crime Programme for youths and adults. You will work closely with the Police, Youth Justice Teams and schools to identify suitably youths and adults to participate in the sessions. These sessions will increase understanding and awareness about the impact of their negative behaviour on communities and victims of Hate Crime. These sessions will take place face to face or online.
